1. What is HRCNN?
The Hampton Roads Construction News Network (HRCNN) is a nonpartisan publishing platform established by Earthly Infrastructure® Building and Infrastructure Development Inc. Its mission is to provide accessible, accurate, and policy-informed coverage of construction, land use, zoning, and regulatory developments across the Commonwealth of Virginia—specifically within the Hampton Roads region. HRCNN exists to support greater transparency, professional collaboration, and civic literacy in matters impacting the built environment.
2. Who is eligible to contribute content for publication?
Licensed professionals, subject matter experts, code officials, regulatory stakeholders, contractors, and policy advocates engaged in fields related to construction, engineering, planning, environmental regulation, or real estate development are encouraged to submit content. Contributors must clearly disclose their professional qualifications and affiliations.
Members of the general public may submit articles or commentary provided the content is relevant, non-defamatory, and supported by credible information. Earthly Infrastructure® reserves the sole right to accept, reject, or edit submissions based on editorial standards and legal considerations.
3. How may I submit an article or proposal for consideration?
All submissions must be made through the Submit an Article page. Submissions must include the following:
A working title and proposed topic
A concise summary or abstract
The author’s name, relevant credentials, and professional biography
Any supporting visuals, citations, or references (if applicable)
Editorial staff may request revisions or clarification before publication. All submissions become the intellectual property of Earthly Infrastructure® upon acceptance and may not be published elsewhere without prior written authorization.
4. Is there a publishing calendar or thematic schedule contributors should follow?
Yes. HRCNN publishes in accordance with a monthly Editorial Calendar which outlines areas of focus aligned with seasonal trends, regulatory cycles, and statewide priorities. Contributors are strongly encouraged to review the calendar before submitting content in order to maximize editorial alignment and visibility.
5. Are there formatting, legal, or content standards for submissions?
Yes. All articles must be original, clearly written, and free from libel, misrepresentation, or speculative claims. Submissions should maintain a professional tone and comply with applicable laws, including but not limited to the Virginia Code § 8.01-223.2 (relating to the protection of certain public statements on matters of public concern). Articles containing legal interpretations or references to the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC), local ordinances, or other regulatory authorities should cite sources appropriately.
Earthly Infrastructure® retains editorial discretion to revise content for clarity, length, or compliance with publication standards.
6. Does HRCNN accept sponsored content or paid placements?
Sponsored educational content and partnership placements may be accepted on a limited basis. All such content must be clearly identified and must meet HRCNN’s editorial and legal standards. Acceptance of sponsored material does not constitute endorsement by Earthly Infrastructure®. Inquiries related to advertising or sponsorship must be submitted in writing through the contact form.
7. How can I remain informed about new content and updates?
Readers may stay up to date by subscribing to our newsletter and following Earthly Infrastructure® on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. Published articles may also be indexed by third-party news aggregators and included in policy briefings, depending on topic relevance.
8. Is HRCNN affiliated with any municipal, state, or federal agency?
No. HRCNN is an independent, privately operated publication platform. Although its editorial scope includes coverage of public policy, code enforcement, and land use regulation, Earthly Infrastructure® operates in its private capacity and does not speak on behalf of any government entity unless expressly authorized.
9. May I cite or redistribute content published by HRCNN?
Yes. HRCNN content may be cited in professional, academic, or public forums provided proper attribution is given. Citations should include the article title, author (if credited), date of publication, and a direct hyperlink to the source. Redistribution of full articles for commercial use, print reproduction, or derivative works is strictly prohibited without the prior written consent of Earthly Infrastructure®.
